Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Pro Bono Day Fall 2011 on Saturday, May 12, 2012. The event will be held from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Legal Aid Bureau offices located at 500 E. Lexington Street, Baltimore, MD 21202.
Volunteers are needed to: provide consultations, greet clients, provide translation services, and other tasks.

Dear Baltimore City Bar Members:
As you may know, October 23- 29, 2011 is the American Bar Association’s national Pro Bono Week. The Pro Bono and Access to Legal Services Committee of the Bar Association of Baltimore City (BABC), in conjunction with the Legal Aid Bureau, Inc. (Legal Aid), the Pro Bono Resource Center (PBRC), the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS), and Legal Services for the Elderly, will once again host a Pro Bono Day clinic on Saturday, October 29th at Legal Aid’s Baltimore City Office, 500 East Lexington Street, from 10 am to 2 pm.
Legal services organizations statewide continue to see marked increases in the number of individuals and families coming forward to request legal assistance in all areas of the law. This past summer, for example, close to 2,000 people walked through Legal Aid’s Baltimore City doors seeking legal assistance. Now more than ever, the demand for services far outweighs the resources available.
The last Pro Bono Day, held in May, 2011, served well over 160 people with more than 190 legal issues. We look forward to an equally successful clinic on October 29th and your participation is encouraged and welcome. Specifically, attorneys are needed to provide brief one-on-one consultations with attendees on a variety of civil matters including housing law, government benefits, bankruptcy and consumer debt issues, wills, advance directives, elder law and divorce/custody/child support. This event cannot be a success without your assistance.
